It is an honour for the Discoveries Highland Park Team to welcome you and your family.
Our centre is licensed for 100 children. We have qualified teachers who are working with us due to their love, knowledge, enthusiasm and commitment to children. We pride ourselves on the quality of our staff and are committed to providing teachers with professional development opportunities that further develop their skills and knowledge. Our staff always keep parents well informed about the development and involvement of their child on a daily or weekly basis.
We are a vegetarian centre. We follow the Healthy Heart Foundation and have a four week cyclic menu.
Our teachers respect and value cultural diversity to ensure that all cultures are acknowledged. We acknowledge the unique place of Maori children as Tangata Whenua in the sense that every child has the right to rich bi-cultural experiences that reflect the heritage of all parties.
We aim to provide a consistent, high standard care and education to children through nurturing their inquiring minds and encouraging their individualism. We are here to foster the development of their critical thinking skills, initiative, choice and appreciation of differences.
It is our core mission to create a personalised, secure, caring and nurturing environment for your child and help them learn and grow all throughout their developmental years.
We understand and respect that each child has a different physical, emotional, social and spiritual development which is why we equip our centres with resources that acknowledge the value of cultural diversity. We respect the unique place of Maori children as Tangata Whenua and understand that each child has the right to rich bi-cultural experiences that reflect the heritage of all parties.
We strongly support the idea of building strong relationships between the parent and the child. We encourage that all parents, whānau and matua actively participate in our daily programmes and other special events.
Our centre’s programme is based on the ‘Te Whaariki’ New Zealand early childhood curriculum from Ministry of Education.
We want to help build your child’s confidence and prepare him or her for the transition to primary school with ease. Our services are open to children and families of all race, religion, gender, cultural heritage and political beliefs. We put high value to your input in rearing your child at school. At Discoveries Educare, everyone is welcome to learn and grow.
We strongly believe in the philosophy that hands-on experience is the best way for a child to learn.
We ensure to include in your child’s programme a number of daily activities that will help in the process of learning and development. We encourage them to speak their minds and ask questions and we offer child directed activities like art and sensory time. We also organise activities that allow parents like you to establish a deeper bond with your child and collectively interact with other children at the centre.
